It is with profound pleasure to inform you of the inauguration of the Research Management Committee (RMC) of Ministry of Public Service.
Research is finding its place in the country ‘s development agenda and this inauguration is testimony to the development of our nation.
Research fueled by curiosity is what propels human development. It is when we ask questions and immerse ourselves into investigating so that we find solutions to solve human problems.
Undertaking public policy focused research that informs the decision-making process is very important for a Ministry that is spearheading the transformation of the public service as well as setting service delivery standards. This further propels the redesigning of service delivery processes in a way that meets the demands of the citizens, hence improving value for money.
Effective Research provides powerful insights into why some approaches are more successful than others and how to deliver better services within constrained budgets.
It is against this background that the Ministry of Public Service seeks to ensure that the Research arm of the Civil Service College is fully operationalized with the establishment of a Research Management Committee that is responsible for the Public Service Research priorities, as a key prior action.
The RMC is a multi-stakeholder committee drawn from various key MDAs, academia and the private sector, and a vehicle that drives the public service research agenda in fulfillment of the Civil Service College mandate of supporting Public Policy Research and Innovations, and providing Policy Advisory Services.
In supporting research, the College purposes to; –
- (i) create relevant knowledge for public service development;
(ii) validating that knowledge;
- (ii) Institutionalizing a sustainable research capacity that serves the needs of the country’s public sector.
